About Me
I am an Artist /Designer. I have a Bachelor Degree from The National College of Art and Design, Dublin. I have been working with glass and fine art for many years.
GLASS: By using recycled sheet glass as a basic construction material, I can create a whole new visual world. I use the reflective and light transmitting qualities of glass . Transparency allows light to travel through it in different ways. When a piece of work is displayed outside, attention is drawn to the limitlessness of space. When the work is hung inside, emphasis is placed on creating an illusion of space. When glass is used it is almost a living organism, reacting to light and to surrounding colour and shape.
I manage to obtain extra light whilst also having an architectural feature. It offers a glimpse of the fascinating qualities of glass. I do not simply give an architectural feature a new look, but create a completely new perspective for the entire space. The technique is not as complicated as it may appear. The image is carried on glass in exactly the same manner as on canvas, paper or wood. The synergy of paint and glass has a depth and transparency unlike any other medium. Painting on glass is time-consuming and a beautiful craft.
PAINTINGS: I take a very relaxed approach when working on my paintings. I like to take a subject matter and experiment with colours and technique. I would say my painting's are abstract, they keep only the illusion of the original subject.I try make my painting's contain subject matter that will hold the attention of the beholder and should evoke an emotional response. The viewers of my paintings should try to figure out what the painting represents. My Pieces place emphasis on visual sensations frequently through harmonious arrangements of colours.

Exhibition: Womans Identity Summer 2008
This exhibition is a comment on current social issues regarding Women's identity From Religion to Feminism and how in this post-feminist era, 40 years since the construction of modern feminist thought began, women view themselves. The challenge to the artists and community lies in visiting our own convictions and often conflicting understanding of women's role in the community and society we hope with this exhibition to encourage and stimulate debates with a serious of symposiums on the subject, using the artwork as a starting point for the conversation. We want to discuss how Mothers roles have changed, and Women's sense of worth and identity in a society that is moving away from a religious value system towards a materialistic one, also how most young women regard feminism as yesterdays fashion, an antiquated philosophy that hangs neglected like the hippie beads in the back of their mothers closets. But the philosophy of feminism is not dead; all of us to one degree or another have become feminists.
